THE WESTLAND WALLACE - TWICE OVER MOUNT EVEREST The WestIand "Wallace" gives a new definition to "general purpose." Quickly adaptable for bombing, reconnaissance, long range work ab initio training, seaplane or fighting duties, it gives a performance, in each adaptation, second only to one or two" single-purpose" machines. It was for this reason that out of the many aircraft of all types available, the Technical Committee of the Houston Mt-Everest Flight chose a Westland "Wallace." The Wallace's" record in the Royal Air Force is proving that, in uniting high performance with wide adaptability, the well-known Westland reliability has in no way been sacrificed. A Westland "Wallace" (with its contemporary, the Houston-Westland) fitted with Bristol Pegasus S III Engines twice flew over the summit of Mount Everest during April 1933: the first conquest of that great peak. Dunlop wheels and tyres fitted, as standard. WESTLAND AIRCRAFT WORKS, YEOVIL | ||||
