| Used as a training airfield by the RNAS from 1915 until the RAF became independent in 1918 and took over the facilities. It became the entry point for all persons who wished to become officers in the RAF. Until 1981 all flying training took place at the college on types including Piston and Jet Provosts, Meteors and Vampires. Currently it is home to the RAF College Aircrew Selection Centre, HQ Air Cadets and No 3 Flying Training School for navigators and NCO aircrew. | ||
