RAF Station
Halton |
|
| In 1916 the Royal Flying Corps moved its air mechanics school from Farnborough to Halton and in 1917 the school was permanently accommodated in workshops built by German PoWs. The site was absorbed into the Royal Air Force establishment at the end of the First World War. In 1919 Lord Trenchard established the World Famous No. 1 School of Technical Training at RAF Halton which remained at the Station until it moved to RAF Cosford in the early 1990s. Halton is now home to the School of Recruit Training, the RAF Institute of Health, Headquarters Defence Dental Agency, and 613 Volunteer Gliding School. | ||
