| Built and used as a training airfield in 1934 it was mainly used as a stop over point for all military aircraft flying to and from the United States. The most famous of these stopovers saw Prestwick as the only place of the UK that Elvis stepped on. (While en route to Germany for his national service.) It is however now mainly used by civilian air traffic. | ||
