| Opened as a bomber station in 1940 operational until late 1943 when it became a training base for bomber crews. In 1948 it became a flying training base and continued this role until 1970 when the units left. Syerston became vacant until 1975 when the Air Cadet (VGS) gliding school moved in. It is still active in this role. | ||
