| Opened in 1941 as a RAF Bomber Command field it was transferred to the USAAF in 1942. US light and heavy bomber units used the airfield on ops for the rest of the war. When the war ended it was placed back under RAF control and used as a vehicle storage unit until finally sold off in 1959. | ||
