| Constructed in 1942 for the USAAF Hethel was used as a medium and heavy bomber base for the remainder of the war. Transferred to the RAF on the 25th June 1945 RAF Fighter Command moved in for the next two years. It was closed down in 1948 due to surplus requirements. The site is now used by Lotus Cars as a testing track. | ||
