| Construction started in 1942, however plans changed from a grass field to three concrete runways to be laid. By 1943 this had been completed and the fighter units of the USAAF started ops and continued to do so until the wars end. Handed to the RAF afterwards it was used to store ammunition until it was closed and sold off in January 1959. | ||
