| Construction started in 1942 and was completed by 10th June 1943 when the first USAAF heavy bomber unit arrived. Ops continued until the end of the war when it was transferred back to the RAF and placed into care and maintenance. By February 1957 it was closed down as surplus to requirements. Today a small grass strip is used for private flying. | ||
