| Although the area was earmarked as an airfield as far back as 1942 it was not completed and opened until March 1944 for use by USAAF light bomber and fighter units. Transferred back to the RAF at the end of the war it was used as a military vehicle store until it was closed and sold off by May 1958. | ||
