| Opened in 1942 for RAF bomber command the airfield was handed over to the USAAF on the 30 June 1943 with the 381st bomber group arriving shortly after. Handed back to the RAF Ridgewell was used as a bomb storage from July 1945 to March 1957 when it was closed and sold off. The USAF however continued to use the old aircraft hangars for storage until the early 1990`s. | ||
