Content-Delivery FAQ's
Crosswords:
Q: Do you just compile Aviation Themed Crosswords?
A: No... You can specify your own
theme or go for a more traditional general knowledge or cryptic format.
Q: How will we know if the crosswords
will suit our readers/users/members tastes?
A: Each crossword or series is created according to an Editors
Brief. Put simply we will match the content and style to appeal to your
target users. Where crosswords include a competition element some though
may need to be given to sponsors requirements and the proportion of
successful entrants required.
Q: How do we get the Interactive
Puzzle onto our Website?
A: The Interactive puzzles are Java Based so can be integrated into
your existing pages with just a few lines of simple code.
Q: What publishing output formats are
provided for our Printers?
A: Print output can be supplied in a format to suit your printers
requirements. Essentially the grid is an image and the clues, and
answers are plain text. This gives the printer know formats to work with
and allows easy integration into their publishing software. Puzzles can
also be delivered as standalone formatted Word Docs, RTF or PDF.
Q: I noticed that some of the
Interactive puzzles have different designs and features?
A: There are quite a few options available in respect of style. For
example you can decide if you want users to be able to submit or save
their puzzles. You can also decide if you want to give them clues, hints
or even the solution on demand.
Q: What Themes can we specify ?
A: Just about anything really! but creating a puzzle based on some
themes may require significant research, especially where the users are
passionate about their subject. Sponsor driven themes may need to
include keywords or clues relating to a particular product or service.
Great care must be taken to ensure accuracy here.
Q: I just need some "off the shelf"
generic general knowledge puzzles. Can you provide these?
A: Yes. Individually or as a series of 3, 6 or 12 if you wish.
Q: Who owns the copyright on the
puzzles?
A: In the case of original puzzles the commissioning client will own
the copyright. This means they can publish, syndicate or even resell as
they wish. In the case of "Off The Shelf" puzzles Content-Delivery owns
the copyright and may sell or publish these at our own discretion.
Purchasers are permitted to publish these puzzles within their own
publications and marketing, but not resell.
Radiotelephony:Q: Do you just do R/T training?
A: No... All PPL subjects can be
accommodated, but R/T is the specialist topic.
Q: Can we arrange the written and
oral R/T exams through you?
A: Not directly as we relinquished or examining role to concentrate
on Training. However we can easily put you in touch with a suitably
qualified CAA Examiner on request.
Q: How much do your courses cost?
A: Costs vary according to class size, venue and requirements.
However for the two day classroom based course the cost is currently
£80-00. This does not include examination fees.
Q: Will I need to buy any additional
books, tapes CD's etc?
A: You will definitely need an up to date copy of the CAP413 and
access to the Internet to view AIS and other resources. Any other
publications or media are at your discretion and are not required for or
as a reference for this course.
Q: At what stage in my flying
training should I start my R/T training?
A: You will become start to become familiar with day to day R/T as
part of your normal flying training, and the more practice you can get
at this the better. However the "formal" R/T training course will allow
us to work through the syllabus in some detail. Ideally you should have
a reasonable working knowledge of other associated subjects like Air Law
and Navigation. Any time after First Solo is a good time to consider
booking onto one of these courses.
Q: Will I be ready to sit my R/T
exams after your course?
A: In principle yes. However it is assumed that you will be
sufficiently motivated to carry our some self study and revision if
required. In some cases individuals may request or benefit additional
coaching before entry to the examinations is recommended.
Software:
Q: Will your Windows software work in association with our existing Web
Applications/scripts etc.
A: Yes... Where applicable and in most cases.
Q: What about application updates and content
management?
A: Where appropriate there is an associated custom built Content
Management Application. Where very long term use and support may be
required I can work with in house or third party developers to take
over the project in it's entirety. You own the software.
Q: Can I incorporate material we
already have such as text/audio/video/html/flash/rtf/pdf
etc....
A: Yes. Very often you can even run other Web resources or existing
installed PC programmes within your custom software.
Q: Where are you?
A: Notts UK (East Midlands)
Q: Do you produce a version for MAC or Linux?
A: No .. just Windows .. but I will work with third parties if ports
are required.
Q: Do you have any software I can
download on a Trial Basis?
A: No. I don't have any Shareware/Freeware applications at the
moment. All current software has been commissioned to serve a
particular purpose or market. As mentioned I can often provide a
representative sample application relevant to your requirements
within 24 hrs.
Q: After The If's and But's does your
software always end up costing more than planned?
A. No and often less if I have reusable code! I've created
perfectly serviceable utilities within 2 hours for under £40-00. I
like giving and receiving referrals so if people are satisfied with
the value of my products they often commission more and tell others.
Q: I`ve had an idea. You may be able to help with, but
I can`t quite explain what I
actually need or how it might work. Can you help?
A; Yes. Many applications start out this way. That's why I get
something to quickly and inexpensively so you can start pressing
buttons early in the process..then together we can refine or reject the concept.
Q: What don`t you do?
A: Accept commissions that are a bad idea.
Q: Can I sell, share, give away or
otherwise distribute the software once it's been completed?
A: Yes. But I'd prefer you told me at the outset as there are one or
two things you will need to consider. Installers, terms and
conditions and help notes for example.
